The Minor Mosquito AA Chiefs are champions once again, this time at the East York Summer Slam.  3 victories in the round robin would land the Chiefs in a 3-way tie with Peterborough and Newmarket. Whitby ended up 2nd heading into the playoff rounds by virtue of their defensive runs against ratio. With the top 2 finishers receiving a bye to the semis, Whitby would await the winner of the Mississauga North-Peterborough matchup.

With Peterborough coming out on top in their quarterfinal, the Chiefs were faced with the always tough battle against their EOBA counterpart. A true back and forth game that saw many great plays and big hits on both sides had the Chiefs coming out on top 8-6 with Peterborough once again threatening to score in their final at bat. Newmarket won their semifinal game against the Whitby A team, so the final game was set. Another great game would ensue, with Whitby scoring the go ahead run in the top of the 7th. They would then shut down the Hawks for the 5-4 victory. “These boys showed their character today. Every single player on the team contributed to this win, and we as a coaching staff could not be more proud!” Head Coach Paul Lawrence on the victory.

The Chiefs will look to continue their strong play as EOBA league play continues this week with games against Pickering and Oshawa.

Congratulations to the East York Summer Slam Champions: Aidan Narinesingh, Brandon Foster, Brett Lawrence, Cole Phillips, Desmond Walker, Easton Joss, Easton Smith-D’Oliveira, Griffin Johnson, Kyle Costello, Rohan Patel, Sawyer Delaney, and our spiritual leader Jobu.
