Minor Rookie AAA team travels to Windsor for Easter weekend pre-season training camp.

The Whitby Chiefs Minor Rookie AAA team had a fantastic preseason baseball weekend in Windsor over Easter. The teams baseball skills were challenged, and grew at Southwest Ontario’s premier athletics and events facility, Central Park Athletic centre. It was here where they met up with the 2011 Windsor Stars Junior Rookie AAA baseball team and took part in a 3 hour “training camp” consisting of skill development and a simulated game. In this environment, boys from both teams got to meet new friends and develop as baseball players and young people.

The following day the Whitby boys traveled together to Comerica Park in Michigan, where they watched a game between the  Detroit Tigers and Chicago White Sox. Some highlights from the Comerica Park experience would be arriving early to catch batting practice and as many baseballs as possible, as well as spending some time on the diamond before the game for the “Easter Parade” and getting to run bases after the game. There was no shortage of smiles and laughter as it was a very successful team bonding event on their first team weekend together. The team handled themselves the entire weekend in a fashion that would make their families, Whitby Minor Baseball Association and the EOBA proud.
