Peewee Select Champions at Clarington Classic Tournament

Updated Friday June 28, 2019 by Whitby Minor Baseball Association.

The Peewee Select team participated in the Clarington Classic Tournament the weekend of June 22. In the first round robin game the team was up against a strong host team, the Clarington Orioles. It was a close start but our bats prevailed and our Whitby Reds came out on top winning 12-6. The next two round robin games were similar in that our team stayed the course, remained focused and pulled out another 2 wins against East Mountain and Northumberland to capture top seed in the division.
The team faced a determined West Hill team in the semi-final on Sunday but again our Whitby Reds came out on top winning 10-8. A talented Stouffville team was our final opponent. Despite being down 0-5 after the first inning, our team rallied together, never giving up and constantly cheered each other on. In an electrifying 4th inning and down 6-3, Whitby scored an amazing 12 runs to pull ahead. Whitby showed up defensively as well, with fantastic pitching and some great fielding plays, allowing only one additional run in the remaining two innings. Whitby added 2 more of their own to close out the game and win 7-17!
This is the second tournament win for the team this season! Way to go Whitby Reds!!
